KRS §403.270 requires that a trial court determine custody cases using a best interest of the child standard and provides some guidelines for the court. The trial court must give each parent  equal consideration in making its custody decision. It must also consider all  relevant factors, including, among other things, the wishes of the parents, the wishes of the child, the interaction of the child with his parents and siblings, the child’s adjustment to his home, school, and community,  and information and evidence of domestic violence. KRS §403.320 states that a parent not granted custody of the child is entitled to reasonable visitation rights unless the court finds, after a hearing, that visitation would endanger seriously the child’s physical, mental, moral, or emotional health.
